The following is an extract from my book: Australian Washing Machine Repairs.
Two A4 pages with 6 diagrams on Gray water use and your washing machine. How to do it with out causing damaged to your washing machine and causing other problems.
Six A4 pages with 8 diagrams and 3 photographs with instructions on converting a dishwasher to a pump and holding tank.
Topic covered include:
Basic dishwasher operation
Pump plumbing
Metal work on the dishwasher
Electrical safety
Electrical connections
Automatic switching with the pressure switch
Testing the system and gray water piping
Electric motors
Conclusion
All the parts for this project can be obtained from the dishwasher, such as mains cord, 10mF capacitor etc. The only parts required to purchase are for the outlet hose connections. Is the project worth doing with cheap submersible pumps from China? You are recycling parts, learning about pumps and motors which are both worthwhile achievements.
Parts Required
Recycled dishwasher $10 (Purchased from the recycle shop at a waste transfer station)
Metal cut off wheel $3
Tube of silicone $6
Stainless steel S/T screws $5
Terminal and connectors $1
Hose connections $5
Total $30 plus a couple of hours work
Buy a printed copy (A4 pages reduced to A3) or I will email you a pdf version (with colour photographs) and save on postage.
